So the secret is out on Secret Lair. A series of one day only boxes of curated cards with special art treatments. I must admit I’m really impressed with what they did with it.
Historically, collectors items have had the dual problem of a limited print run and selling out quickly. Wizards have side stepped this issue by printing each of the Secret Lair drops to demand for a single day, and then apparently never again.
Another cool note is the breadth of themes and art of Secret Lair. From a full art bitterblossom and accompanying tokens, to cute cartoon kitties, to goofy goblins and some Christmas in Eldraine themed snow lands. A mix of foil and non foil cards. Secret Lair seems designed to appeal to a really broad range of players and I hugely approve.
It’s something they’ve indicated they intend to do again in future and so far at a very reasonable price. I’d hope that this indicates that Wizards is trying to print sets and products of reprints that players can access and be passionate about.
Short version is this. Wizards continues to release cool products for us that tailor to the needs of a vast range of magic players. 2019 has been a tremdous year for the game and I’m truly hopeful for what the future has in store for us. As always, good luck and good skill.
